The Counting House

The original Counting House was an office for local coal mines in the late 1800’s. The accounts were kept here and the coal trucks went by to the jetty on the beach. The mines were part of a large estate centered on Southwood Farm above Newgale and the owners lived in Wiltshire. Around 1900 the office was extended to become a house. In 1959 the property was purchased at auction by the current owners.

The house has 3 -4 bedrooms sleeping 5/7 people, arranged as a double bedroom, a single room and twin bedded room. A cot and highchair are also available. There is a sofa double bed downstairs in a side room. Bring your own bed linen and towels – pillows and duvets or blankets are provided for all beds.

There is a large living room with sitting at one end (including TV and video) and dining at the other end with a wood burning stove. There’s also a sun lounge, downstairs bathroom with a shower and a cloakroom with bidet.

The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave oven and upright fridge freezer. washing machine and tumble dryer are along the passageway (pegs & washing line in garden.) iron and ironing board in cupboard under stairs.

Pets are allowed but please not upstairs or on furniture.

Electricity is not on a meter. There is a payphone which accepts £1, 50p, 20p & 10p coins. The house is in a mobile phone shadow – but further up the hill is ok.

Parking is provided for 2 cars by back door.

The quiet unspoilt and sheltered hamlet of Nolton Haven lays in the center of St Brides Bay, itself a principal feature of the glorious Pembrokeshire Coast .

The nearest shops are either at Roch, a short drive inland or at Newgale, Beach just along the coast. There are a variety of excellent eating places around St Brides Bay and the usual more extensive shopping facilities in Haverfordwest.
